Handmade patchwork & patches

About
Araminta Muscaria is a one woman run show. I always strive to make high quality unique wearable art, while also keeping the environment in mind and fabrics out of landfills. You'll see a lot of re purposing of clothing and fabrics through my art.

Handmade clothing designs for an altered mind.

One of the most asked question is about my name, how do you pronounce it, what does it mean? Araminta, pronounced air-ah-minta, was my great grandmothers name and is my middle name. When I was a teenager I realized the resemblance between it and amanita, as in amanita muscaria. I was really into mushrooms at that point and the name kinda just stuck. One of a kind name for one of a kind clothing.

Process
All applique is done without the use of any computerized sewing machine. I use a machine from the 70s and each piece is meticulously cut out and stitched down. Each piece of clothing takes several hours to complete and is a one of a kind (OOAK) creation. All clothing seams are professionally finished and top stitched for many years of wear.

Ordering
All ready to ship items in the shop are on a first come, first serve basis.
Custom patches take up to 3 weeks to complete.
Custom clothing depending on the piece can take up to 8 weeks for completion.
Anyone with a custom order will be in contact with myself during the process as each piece is individual and can all vary slightly in production times.

History
My sewing journey began in 2009, I was fascinated by all the clothing I saw going to festivals. My best friend made patchwork and she showed me the basic set up of a skirt, from there we had our first endeavor into all of this. We traveled around selling clothing and patches under the name RaggedyAnneAraminta. Around 2011 I switched over to Araminta Muscaria. Most of these years have been spent selling patches in various parking lots around the country. If you're at a show and see me, come say hi!
